Claire's First Days

Well, the 18th started like a pretty regular day. We got up, had breakfast (actually Erin couldn't eat but I did), cleaned the house, and got ready for our day. We arrived at the hospital at 12:30 and at 2:30 Erin was wheeled in for surgery. She hated every minute of the surgery but it was all worth it because at 3:12pm we heard our baby girl cry for the very first time.

Within a few minutes they handed me our little bundle and there were two big surprises. I think we were most surprised because Claire has red hair! We don't know if it will stick but either way it is very special because Erin's Grandma Kay (Claire's middle name is Katherine after Erin's grandmother and mother) had bright red hair. The second surprise was that Claire has a beauty mark right on her nose. We were a bit shocked and worried about it at first but we have already talked to the dermatologists and they have told us that any risks associated with this type of birthmark are fairly low and that it can be removed if we choose in a few years. She is so cute!

We are still in the hospital and adapting to our new life. We will be here until Friday which is good because we have had lots of help, but we are looking forward to taking Claire home and enjoying Christmas with her. Claire is such a love and likes to snuggle. She also like to sleep with her feet in the air.
