The week Guilford stood still...
She hit during the wee hours of August 29, 2011. We awoke all night to high winds and heavy rain, then to power, but it quickly went off at 6:00 am. It did not return until Saturday, September 3, 2011. Guilford was hit extremely hard with trees downs everywhere, power outages in the hundreds of thousands, and tons of flooding. We were extremely lucky that our house was spared. However, we did lose 5 trees in our back woods, with 2 of them falling on either side of the playground.
Sam prepared ahead of time with the purchase of a generator which really saved us. I headed to my mom's in MA with the kids for 4 days and Sam worked hard with his newly purchased chain saw. Canestri was able to hook up water for us; albeit the day before power returned :) My school was postponed for the week with kids starting after Labor Day. What a wild week!
